WHAT WE LOVE
New York's oldest bookstore was founded in 1925 by Louis Cohen. The family-run bookstore is in its third generation ownership, passing first to Louis Cohen's daughters, Judith Lowry, Naomi Hample, and Adina Cohen, who have been joined by his grandson Ben Lowry.
Located in Midtown East, Argosy has six floors of antiquarian and out-of-print books, first editions, autographs, art, photography, and antique maps & prints. Argosy's has had many noteworthy customers over the years, including Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jacqueline Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Princess Grace, Michael Jackson, and Sally Field. The store has been featured in several movies and TV shows.
