Berkelouw Books is Australia's largest and oldest independent new, second-hand and rare bookseller, with an overall stock in excess of two million books. The Berkelouw family has been trading in books for six generations, originally based in Rotterdam since 1812 until their entire stock was destroyed in the Second World War. In 1948 the Berkelouw family moved to Sydney and continued the family business opening their now landmark Paddington store in 1994. The three-storey bookstore features a café and wine bar alongside the wide selection of both new and used titles.

In addition to the Paddington store there are four other Berkelouw bookshops in the Sydney area.
