WHAT WE LOVE
Brooklyn General Store is filled with supplies and tools for needle crafts - knitting, sewing, quilting, felting, spinning, rug hooking and embroidery. Founded by midwife Catherine Clark, a knitting and sewing enthusiast since the age of five, Brooklyn General Store is located in the historic Columbia Street Waterfront District neighboring Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, and Red Hook. Housed in the Frank’s Department Store, dating to the 1930's, with a restored vintage interior boasting preserved floor to ceiling shelves, rolling ladders and classic old wooden floors.
As well as supplies, Brooklyn General offers a wide variety of classes.
"Not only is it a place to feast your eyes and hands on glorious colors and patterns and textures but it is a place that respects and honors a time when a trip to the country store was a way of life."
