WHAT WE LOVE
The Housing Works Bookstore, a New York institution opened in 1996 as part of Housing Works mission to fund advocacy, treatment, and housing for homeless populations living with HIV/AIDS. The books are all donated and the store staffed by volunteers enabling 100% of the profits to fund Housing Work's initiatives. There is also a café within the bookstore offering coffee, bakery items and cocktails.
Housing Works operates a several thrift stores throughout New York City.
"Housing Works fights for funding and legislation to ensure that all people living with HIV&AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention, and treatment, among other lifesaving services."
