WHAT WE LOVE
Marchpane is a bookshop specializing in rare children's and illustrated books. Established in 1989 on the charming Cecil Court, a pedestrian lane lined with antiquarian bookstores in London's West End. Marchpane is London's premier specialist on books by and about Lewis Carroll featuring hundreds of different illustrated and translated versions of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.
Marchpane offers a wide selection of British collectable children’s books with many first or early editions of great classics such as Winnie-the-Pooh, Peter Pan, The Wind in the Willows, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Wizard of Oz, Pinocchio and more.
Founded by by Laurence Worms, owner of Ash Rare Books, and his then director Kenneth Fuller. Later Laurence sold this business to Kenneth who remains at the helm today.
"Marchpane opened in August 1989 and is the premier specialist in collectable children's and illustrated books in London. We have books from the eighteenth century to the present day; and one of the largest selections of books by and about Lewis Carroll."
