Established in 2014 by three friends and named in honor of the New Zealand town where two of the friends were married, Matamata coffee is located on a quiet side street in Paris' 2nd arrondissement. The small coffee shop serves specialty coffee drinks, pastries, breakfast and lunch items such as avocado on toast and sandwiches. Sit outside on a fine day, at the plant-filled window bar or there is additional seating downstairs via a spiral staircase by the leafy-papered wall. The signature leaf print can also be found on coffee cups and the shop sign as well as the wallpaprer.

In November 2022 Matamata coffee shop was acquired by new owners.
