Based on a brand founded in the early 19th century by Jean-Vincent Bully, Officine Universelle Buly, also known as Buly 1803, was relaunched as a luxury beauty brand in 2014 by husband and wife, Ramdane Touhami and Victoire de Taillac.
The reimagined brand opened with a store in Saint-Germain-des-Près followed by a shop in the Haut-Marais in 2017. The spaces are fashioned after historic French pharmacies with marble-topped walnut counters and cabinetry stocked with apothecary-style potions and lotions. The staff uniforms, packaging, and branding also echo the 19th century heritage of the brand. Products range from perfume to skincare, men's grooming to toothpaste.
The Haut-Marais store, in a former foundry, is home to the Grand Café Tortoni, a café counter serving coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. There is also a massage and treatment room at this location.
In 2021 Officine Universelle Buly was acquired by LVMH. The brand operates more than thirty shops around the world, many stores within stores.
