WHAT WE LOVE

Pollocks Toy Museum is the oldest toy museum in the UK. Two historic and colorfully painted 18th and 19th century buildings in London's Fitzrovia district house over 7000 toys. An unrivalled collection of toy theatres are at the heart of the collection.

Toy theaters were very popular in 19th century London, inspired by the blossoming theatre industry. They were printed from engraved metal plates and then hand-colored and constructed. Children used these miniature toy stages to perform popular plays at home.

The museum toy shop occupies the ground floor of the corner building that fronts onto both Scala and Whitfield Streets. It’s filled with toys reminiscent of a bygone era. There are toy theaters, wooden and tin toys, soft toys and stationery. A treasure trove of nostalgia that will appeal to both young and old alike.
