Independent bookstore, Word, was established in Brooklyn's Greenpoint in 2007 by Christine Onorati. With a background in publishing and a young career in her father's stationery store, Christine traded her Northport, NY bookshop for Word when she mover to Brooklyn. A general bookstore that offers memberships, subscriptions, and mystery boxes. There is a robust event schedule for the whole family and a variety of bookclubs both virtual and in person.

Building on the success of the Brooklyn store, Christine opened a second bookstore in Jersey City in December 2013. Both bookshops offer a selection of greeting cards and stationery.
