Brooklyn Craft Company blossomed from Brooklyn Craft Camp, a one-day event held in the basement of a Greenpoint church in 2012. The event was hosted by Brett Bara, a life-long craft aficionado, who based on the success of the event founded the Brooklyn Craft Company in an old pencil factory loft space before opening the current Greenpoint storefront in 2015. In 2016 Brett was joined by fellow crafter Carolyn Heitmann to run the store.

The Brooklyn Craft Company hosts a variety of workshops and classes including sewing to weaving, dying, knitting, crochet and more. The shop offers fabric, yarn, craft, paper supplies and creative goods for a myriad of crafting projects.
