WHAT WE LOVE
A shop that showcases the work of some of Ireland’s most exciting designer-makers. Established in 2008, first as an online venture that proved so successful that founders Clare Grennan and Laura Caffrey opened a store the following year. In 2018 the shop expanded to include the floor over the original shop to showcase Clare and Laura's jewelry collection, Names. Customers can view jewelry designers at work as there is a working jeweler's bench on the additional floor.
THE SHOPKEEPERS
Clare Grennan and Laura Caffrey both jewelers, met in Art College where they studied metalwork. They realized they loved selling, interacting with customers and meeting other makers, so they decided to establish a platform to represent a new era of Irish makers. After graduating college they set up a metal studio and sold their jewelry at weekend markets. They discovered they loved selling, interacting with customers and meeting other makers, so together they decided to establish a platform to represent a new era of Irish makers. And the Irish Design Shop was born.
