WHAT WE LOVE
An influential concept store from the iconic red Fiat 500 parked in the courtyard to the beautifully curated and inspiring installations. Merci, located in the beautiful Haut-Marais district in Paris' 3rd Arrondissement, was launched by Marie-France Cohen in 2009. The shop occupies a beautiful nineteenth-century building positioned between a cobbled courtyard and a garden. The building has 1,500 square meters over three levels with ten-meter-high ceilings that flood the space with light via a magnificent glass roof.
Merci's approach to merchandizing is akin to a magazine editorial, presenting spectacular themed installations about ten times a year. The ground floor houses a space dedicated to the staging of installations as well as the used-book café, and a cinema café. The first level is dedicated to women’s fashion and menswear; a selection of vintage and exclusively designed furniture, homeware, and stationery.
One of the most notable aspect of this store, alongside its merchandizing, is that it was established to fund a charitable endowment fund. A tradition that continues today even after Marie-France Cohen sold Merci in 2013. The Thank You fund.
