WHAT WE LOVE
Scrivener's Books & Bookbinding is an award-winning second-hand bookshop located in the historic Peak District spa town of Buxton. Founded in 1997 by Alastair Scrivener, the bookstore is housed in a Victorian building and boasts a collection of 40,000 titles spread over five floors - including the attic and cellar. Alongside the books there is a selection of greeting cards, maps, prints, and sheet music, as well as tea & coffee. In-house bookbinding services include new binding, repairs and restoration. The original basement Victorian kitchen is still intact and has become a de facto museum.
"Scrivener's Books and Bookbinding is probably the largest secondhand bookshop in Derbyshire. We have over 40,000 volumes ranging from pulp to antiquarian, children's fiction to art plus many collectables and first editions. The shop includes a small Victorian museum and cafe. We also offer in-house bookbinding, encompassing new binding, repairs and restoration. Mahogany boxes, slipcases and show cases can be made to order."
